|Bobby Lee “Chip” Lane, Jr, 61, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2013 at Carolinas Medical Center. Born in Cleveland County, he is the son of Bobby Lee Lane, Sr. and Barbara Sue Graham Lane of Shelby. Chip was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Modena G. Brooks. Chip was the owner/operator of Chipsahoy fishing expeditions. He was an active member of Double Shoals Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher and loved working with the youth ministry. Chip loved fishing and was an avid Duke basketball fan. He had an awesome sense of humor and knew how to put smiles on everyone’s face that crossed his path. He was a loving husband and loved spending time with his friends.
Chip is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Laurel C. Lane; brothers, Larry Allan Lane and Terry Rock Lane both of Shelby; brother in law, Gene Chow and wife Lynn of Brunswick, GA; sister in law, Jeanny Fair of Greenville, SC; mother in law and father in law, Kam Mee & Mary Chow of Brunswick, GA; aunt, Paula Brooks Knisley and husband Clyde of Knoxville, TN; niece and nephews; and many special friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Double Shoals Baptist Church. The Rev. Brian Johnson, Rev. Eric Davis and Rev. Troy Harris will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00pm on Friday, August 9, 2013 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory. At other times the family will be at the home.
