Bruce Camp's Local Fishing Report May 15, 2014
The Kosa retirees fished Lake Hickory recently with David O’Shields and Arnold Ledford getting the win with 7.7. Tommy Wess and James Haynes took second place with 6.7 and Fed and Mary Wright got third with 6.1. Big bass was a 4.7 largemouth, brought in by the team of Fred and  Mary Wright, but was caught by Mary Wright.
I have several reports from Moss since I last reported. The first event had 28 boats and was won by Matt and Emily Arey with 11.90. Charles and Maverick Canipe had 10.0 and took second place. Scott Kiser and Tom Mayhew had 9.96 and was third, they also had big bass of the night with a 4.21. Reggie and Johnny Guffey had 8.94 to claim fourth and fifth went to Obie and Jeanie Long with 8.55.
The next week, twenty-three boats blasted out of the main lake Marina and come weigh-in time, Scott Kiser and Tom Mayhew claimed first place with 8.80. Jody Black and Jason Rhodes were a close second with 8.57, while Mark Swink and Wendell Leonard settled in third with 8.37. J R Garland and Ronnie Beason had 8.24 and were fourth. In fifth with 8.03 was Michael and Buddy Black.  Brian Taylor and Brandon Green had big bass with a 3.42 largemouth.
This past Thursday, 21 boats fished and weights were up from last week. Stacey James and Dustin Green had 11.53 to take the win and they had big bass of the evening with a 4.73 largemouth. J R Garland and Ronnie Beason had 10.08 and were second, while Amos Shear and Charles Accor grabbed third with 9.04. Reggie and Johnny Guffey brought in 7.83 and were fourth. Rounding out the top five was Jody Black and Jason Rhodes with 7.57. Arnold and the Thursday night crowd had their annual benefit event  Saturday with 13 boats fishing. Mark and Cody Swink got the win with 11.53. Close behind in second was J R Garland and Ronnie Beason with 11.26. James “Oz” Osborne and Roger Poston had 9.10 and were third. Big bass was a 3.63 brought in by Shane Glover and Kevin Williams.
Burns High School Band
The Burns High School Band Boosters had a benefit event on Lake Hickory last weekend. Milton and Larry Yancey picked up the win with 13.08. Shane and Austin Petty had 12.84 to get second and third went to Kevin and Zachary Whisnant with 11.82. Austin Elliott and Ethan Winkler had big bass of the day with a 4.99 largemouth.
