Mr. Carson “C.J.” Lipscomb, Jr., 89, of 1101 Frederick St. Shelby, NC departed his earthly home on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at The Oaks Rehabilitation Center in Harrisburg, NC.  He was born on December 9, 1923 in Cleveland County to the late Carson and Clara Hand Lipscomb.

“C.J.” as he was known by many, was a member and dedicated servant of Wardell Chapel AME Zion Church. He was a World War II veteran having served in the US Army and retired from Southern Bell after 30 years of service. He received his formal education in the State of North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his brother Herbert Lipscomb and three sisters Macey Hayes, Alberta Legree, and Jane Sellars.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 64 years, Flossie Walker Lipscomb; one sister, Mable Cokison; one daughter, Cecilia Gaddy and son-in-law Henry Gaddy; two grandchildren, Amanda and Julius; grand daughter-in-law Kelly; three step-grandchildren Keith, Korey and Kevin; two great grandchildren Julissa and Jordan; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 2:30 PM at Waddell Chapel AME Zion Church with Rev. Lonnie Tucker, Jr. officiating.  Burial will take place at Webb Memorial Lawns.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 PM at the church on Monday.
