The President of the Shelby Civitan Club, Dennis Reno, was excited with the turnout and results of their annual BBQ chicken fundraiser dinner. Everyone agreed that all Dennis’ hard work made the event a success. The dinner was held on Friday, May 2nd at Central United Methodist Church in Shelby and a total of $10,660 was raised. North Shelby School is the major recipient of Shelby Civitans’ service projects. The organization, founded in 1917, aims to “build good citizenship by providing a volunteer organization dedicated to serving individual and community needs with an emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities.” The Civitans, together with North Shelby School, aim to make a difference “one project and one smile at a time.” The club’s biggest event is their annual Christmas & Gift Party at the school.
