Forrest Lee Mauney, age 84, died Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Atrium-Cleveland. Born in Cleveland County on March 3, 1934 he was the son of the late Henry Webb Mauney and Bessie Cogdell Mauney. He was a former Deacon and Sunday school teacher at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church where he was a member. Forrest was also a reserve deputy of the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office. He worked as a supervisor for Doran Textiles and later Baxter Corporation. He was an avid fisherman and he particularly enjoyed fishing at the broad river.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two spouses, Joleen Ellis Mauney and Brenda Brown Mauney, one son, David Lee Mauney and three brothers; James Mauney, C.W. Mauney and Norman Mauney.
Forrest is survived by his daughter, Wanda Mauney Bridges and husband Larry of Shelby, step daughter, Julie Tucker of Madison, three sisters; Vernie Mae Wall of Shelby, Betty Sue Nelson of Shelby, Rachel Mauney of Shelby, two brothers; Billy Ray Mauney of Shelby and Ralph Mauney and wife Debbie of Shelby, four grandchildren Mandy Bridges Sanders and husband Rodney of Cherryville, Justin Bridges and wife Lindsay of Kings Mountain, Ashley Bridges Cherry and husband Sam of Shelby and Alex Mauney of Charlotte as well as six great-grandchildren; Jayden Moore, Raigan Sanders, Jazzlyn Cherry, Jaccobi Cherry, Lorelei Bridges, and Holland Bridges, one sister-in-law, Laverne Mauney of Shelby and former daughter-in-law Stephanie Hahn of Charlotte.
Funeral Service will be held 3 pm, Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Dr. Eric Davis officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 pm until 3 pm in the church sanctuary and at other times at the home located at 315 N Main Street, Shelby, NC 28152. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
