Glenn Allan Williams

Mr. Glenn Allan Williams, age 77 of Shelby, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Monday, October 1, 2018.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Harriet Hamrick Williams of the home, daughters, Dr. Laura Carscaddon and her husband Dr. David Carscaddon of Shelby, and Leslie Morris and her husband Neil Morris of Fuquay-Varina, NC, granddaughters, Carter Nicole Smith and Kendall Carlisle Smith of Shelby, and grandson, Blake Nathaniel Morris of Fuquay-Varina, NC.
Born December 7, 1940 in Cleveland County, Mr. Williams was the son of the late Clarence H. Williams and Ruth Mode Williams and was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd C. Williams, Sr. and a sister, Shirley Williams Glascoe.
He graduated from Shelby High School, attended Furman University, and graduated from Western Carolina University. He also completed the Executive Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mr. Williams was a member of Lafayette Street United Methodist Church where he was active for many years in the Methodist Men and served on many committees. Mr. Williams was a commercial and residential builder and developer. He was a member and past president of the Cleveland County Home Builders Association and a member and former board member of the North Carolina Home Builders Association. Mr. Williams was also a member of the National Association of Home Builders. He worked for many years at Howard Harrell Designs in Forest City, Doran Textiles in Shelby, and Ernst & Young in Charlotte. He was the builder, former partner, and Chief Executive Officer of Cleveland Funeral Services in Shelby. He was a former board member of the Cleveland County Boys Club, a member of Masonic Lodge 202, and the Rotary Club of Shelby and named a Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a former member of the Advisory Committee for Gardner Webb University and served on the Planning and Zoning Committee of Boiling Springs, NC. Throughout his life, Mr. Williams loved designing and building furniture, playing cards with friends and spending time with his family. Glenn will be remembered for his sense of humor and his love of storytelling.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2018, at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel conducted by Rev. Arthur Holland. A visitation will be held from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
