John Christopher Dodrill, age 47, died Friday, May 19, 2017 at his home. Born in Rutherford County on December 23, 1969 he was the son of Theresa Kaye Melton Wall of Shelby and the late James "Buddy" Lee Dodrill. Chris was a member of Shelby Presbyterian Church. He graduated UNCC with a degree in History and was the owner of A-Plus Car Rental of Shelby Inc. Chris coached youth baseball for a number of years, was a diehard Carolina Tarheel fan, and was a movie buff. In addition to his father, Chris is preceded in death by a son, James Connor Morgan-Dodrill.

In addition to his mother, Chris is survived by his wife, Sandra Morgan-Dodrill; three sons, Matthew Dodrill and wife Megan of Shelby, Tyler Dodrill of Shelby, and Steven Morgan of Shelby; a brother, Travis Dodrill and wife Teresa of Spindale; two grandchildren, Isaiah Dodrill and Carolina Joy Dodrill; and close family friends, Bob and Mary Kempston.

Private memorial service will be held at a later date.
