Kaitlyn and 'Flat Stanley' Meet The President
Sgt. Jeff Bradley gives his daughter Kaitlyn a hug in front of Air Force One.
George and Elizabeth Ledford of Shelby recently took a vacation to San Diego. Their trip included getting to see their grandson Sgt. Jeff Bradley, his wife Lauren and great-granddaughter Kaitlyn. Sgt. Bradley is stationed at Merimar Air Base in area. While there, the family had the chance to see and meet President Obama, who was in San Diego on May 8th. When the president saw Kaitlyn with her Flat Stanley cutout he gladly took time to pose for a photo op. The Flat Stanley Project is a uniquely multi-generational, global literacy activity that engages hundreds of thousands of children on a daily basis. The Project encompasses more than 6000 schools registered in 88 countries, and is included in the curriculum for more than 15% of elementary schools in the U.S. Be on the lookout for Flat Stanley because he might show up almost anywhere.
Air Force One is the official air traffic control call sign of a United States Air Force aircraft carrying the President of the United States. In common parlance the term refers to those Air Force aircraft specifically designed, built, and used for the purpose of transporting the president. The Presidential aircraft is a prominent symbol of the American presidency and its power.
