Mary Elizabeth Pennington Medley, 91, of 520 Bluebird Lane, passed away Friday, October 17th, 2014, at her residence.
Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of the late Cleveland Eugene Medley and the daughter of the late Calvin Dugar Pennington and Lillie Mae Scruggs Pennington. Mrs. Medley retired as a Battery Filler and was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church.
Mrs. Medley is survived by one son, Dennis Lee Medley and wife, Nancy, of Gaffney; one daughter, Sandra Peterson and Otha (Buck) Owensby of Blacksburg; one sister, Polly Murray of Rutherfordton, NC; seven grandchildren, Joseph Peterson, Tammie Fowler, Dennis Eugene Medley, Michael Lee Medley, Matthew Steven Medley, Larry Dean Medley, and Gerald Henderson and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry Gene Medley and Shirley Medley, and one brother, Edwin Pennington.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 19th, 2014, from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm at Gordon Mortuary. Graveside services will be held Monday, October 20th, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery with Mr. James Ramsey officiating. Joe Peterson, Dennis Eugene Medley, Michael Lee Medley, Buck Owensby, Dennis Lee Medley, Josh Fowler will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 1612 N. Limestone Street, Gaffney, SC 29341.
The family will be at the residence.
