Mayme Kendrick Gantt

Mayme Kendrick Gantt, 99, died Thurs., Nov. 19, 2015, at Brookdale Senior Living in Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Selena Lowery Kendrick. Mayme spent the majority of her life in Kershaw, SC, where she was a third grade teacher for 42 years. She was also a member of First Baptist Church, Kershaw, where she was active in active in various different capacities over the years.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Gantt; and sister, Louise Kendrick.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her sisters, Annie Ella Lane, Sophia Kendrick Goforth, and Mary Jo Blanton, all of Shelby; nieces and nephews, Tamara Valentine and husband Mike of Statesville, Keith Lane and wife Sheila of Grover, Robert Crawford of Gastonia, and Rebecca Hare and husband Chris of Charlotte; great nieces and nephews, Michael Lane and wife Susan of Boone, Phillip Lane and wife Brandi, Lauren Davis and husband Brandon, Sara Strange and husband Don, all of Shelby, and Carrissa Burchett and husband Gary Fowler of Wake Forrest; great-great nieces and nephews, Jason, Alexander, Christian, Lane, Bennett, and Braxton.

FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral services will be held 2p.m., Sunday, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel

VISITATION: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

BURIAL: Will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery
