Shelby Optimist Club President Roger Wuest greets some law enforcement officers and thanks them for their service at the annual "Respect The Law Cookout" held at Optimist Park.
The annual Shelby Optimist cookout was held on June 17th to recognize local law enforcement officers. The cookout's theme was "Respect The Law" and featured grilled hamburgers and hotdogs. Several of the officers showed up around 6:30 p.m. and had just come from escorting the Charleston, South Carolina prisoner to the airport and they were glad it was over. When asked how many cars went to the airport for the detail, the answer was 10. The special cookout seemed even more meaningful and appropriate because of the day's events. It was a worthy day to salute the law enforcement officers for a "job well done".
