Community Drum Circle in February!

So...I had expected maybe 20 or 30 people to show up at the last drum circle, seeing as it's still a new concept in Cleveland County's eyes. It was a place where anyone can partake in a musical gathering in a safe, non-competitive and judgment free zone. OVER 70 PEOPLE SHOWED UP!!! There was also a special focus to invite anyone from the deaf and hard of hearing community to come participate in music through rhythm. "Come feel the rhythm!" I apologize to those who came and were expecting an explanation, everyone just fell right into place finding the beat and making great music. If you want to get some instruction before the actual circle begins, come find me between 11:30 and 12:00 and ask. I will be happy to get you started.

I provide a small number of percussion instruments for the public to share, and I will also have some djembes for sale. If would like to participate and don't have your own instrument, get creative and bring your favorite cake container or put some beans (uncooked) in a water bottle and shake it up! Yes, these instruments were at the last drum circle so don't be afraid to be different.

Remember, this time of musical gathering is all about community connection, sharing, and acceptance. The Cleveland County Arts Council is wheelchair accessible and we plan to have an ASL interpreter present for our Deaf and Hard of Hearing participants. If you have any questions call Justin- 704-600-5138 OR if you would like to help spread the word visit my website (www.SongHarper.com) to find a link to the flyer so you can print and hang it at your favorite local hangout!
