GASTONIA, NC -- Betty Jean Lawing Ferris of 708 Crescent Drive, Cherryville,
formerly of Charlotte, NC, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012 at Gaston
Memorial Hospital.
The daughter of the late George Locke Lawing and Sybil LaFrance Lawing, she
graduated from Central High School in Charlotte in 1946. She attended Queens
College and was a member of Phi Mu Sorority.
In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by her husband,
William John Ferris, Jr., and a daughter, Marilyn Singleton Brantley.
Mrs. Ferris is survived by a daughter, Marguerite Hiatt and her husband Ron
of Charlotte; a son, George Ferris and his wife Patricia of Lincolnton; 11
Grandchildren and 18 Great-Grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2013 at
Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. The family will receive friends
following the service.
