Betty Towery Williams, 82, of Shelby died on Monday, February 14, 2011, at Hospice House of Kings Mountain.  A native of Cleveland County, she was preceded in death by her mother Carrie Ada Towery.  Mrs. Williams is also preceded in death by her husband, Herman Leon Williams.  Mrs. Williams was employed by Stamey Stores for thirty plus years and retired from Belks Department Store in Shelby.  She loved to read and write down recipes. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and a member of WMU.

Mrs. Williams is survived by two sons, Wayne Williams wife Rachel of Boiling Springs, Billy Williams of Shelby; her daughter Gail Helton of Shelby; four sisters, Pat Dennie husband Tommy of Hildebran, Rachel Murray of Valdese, Lorine Wellman husband Johnny of Lawndale, Colleen Cooke husband Ronnie of Lawndale; five grandchildren, Jason Williams, Kristin Solomon, Jerica Helton, Justin Williams, Joey Williams; seven great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at 2:00PM on Thursday, February 17, 2011.  Dr. Tony Fulbright will be officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery immediately following the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00PM on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Cecil M Burton Funeral Home.
