Bobby Gene Dedmon

 

Bobby passed away at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center on Friday, June 29, 2012 surrounded by his family.  At his side when he passed were: his wife Velma “Sam” Sneed Dedmon, his son and daughter-in-law Rick and Melissa Dedmon, his granddaughters Brooke and Lainey Dedmon, his sister and brother-in-law Martha and Lowell Greene, his brother and sister-in-law Billy and Debbie Dedmon, his niece and nephew-in-law Rhonda and Phillip Poston, his great nieces Lexi and Kira Poston, and his wife’s sister and husband Joni and Chuck Boheler.

He is also survived by a nephew Chris Greene and his family Denita, Jordan, Jasa, and Kali.

He was born in Shelby North Carolina to Bryan Crawford Dedmon (deceased) and Daisy Mae Gray Dedmon (deceased).  He graduated from Shelby High School in 1965 and then served his country in the United States Air Force.  He received his college degree from Northeast Alabama State Junior College where he was a member of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Fraternity.  He raised his son in Scottsboro, AL and Dalton, GA where he was actively involved in his Church and local civic organizations.  After a few years in Gastonia and High Point NC he settled in Sevierville TN where he lived until his death.  He was a member of First Baptist Church in Sevierville TN.

He was employed with Wyndham Vacations in the travel industry that he loved so much and worked until the day he became ill.  When not working he spent his time with Sam and his little dog, Buddy walking the river trails behind their home.  Having a passion for travel, he was always planning his next big trip.              

The family will be accepting friends on Saturday, July 7th from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Westwood Heights Baptist Church 650 Dellinger Rd., Shelby, NC.  A private graveside service and burial will be held the following day officiated by Reverend David Costner of Westwood Heights Baptist Church.
