Upon graduating Shelby High School, he enlisted into the U S Navy in 1968, serving four years, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Shelby and the Fred Flowers Sunday School Class. He worked at Universal Polygram and was a member of the Cleveland Masonic Lodge 202.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sandra Shaw Henry; three daughters, Elizabeth Henry of the home, Laura Henry; and Karen Adams (Ron) both of Myrtle Beach, SC; Three sons, Travis Henry (Leah) of Smyrna, TN; Steven Henry  and Daniel Shaw both of Shelby; Four sisters, Beth Roberts (John) of Chapel Hill, Amy Mangum (Travis) of Shelby, Julie Falls (Lewis) of Nova Scotia; Becky Lyon (Don) of Vacaville, CA; a brother, David Henry of Shelby; Three grandchildren, Ryne Adams, Braelyn Henry and Charlotte Henry; Nieces and Nephews Bryce Roberts (LiQi), Lydia Roberts (Ethan Sheperd), Jillian Mangum, Jordan Mangum, Grayson Mangum, Spencer Falls, Pearson Falls, David Lyon, Holly Lyon, Grace Lyon and great niece Avelina Roberts.  Special friends Bill Hardin and Jim Carroll.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday May 29, 2012 at 1:00 pm in the Webb Chapel at First Baptist Church in Shelby with Rev. Tony Tench officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park with military rites. The family will receive friends before the service from 11:30 until 1:00 pm, and other times at the home of Amy and Travis Mangum, 1325 Montrose Drive, Shelby.
