| Donald Jackson Elliott, 78, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012 at home. A native of Cleveland County he was the son of the late Christy and Myrtle Greene Elliott. He is also preceded in death by his first wife Marion Moss Elliott. Mr. Elliott was a proud patriot and honored to serve his country in the Korean War. He dedicated much of his time and service to the Salvation Army. He was the retired owner of D. J. Elliott Insurance Agency. Don was a family man and held his family in the highest regard. He loved golf, NASCAR and history. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. He served on the governor’s efficiency study commission under Gov. James E. Holshouser, Jr.
Mr. Elliott is survived by his wife Phyllis Roberts Elliott; daughter, Roxane Elliott Adams of Wilmington and her children, Lt. Commander Chad G. Adams and his wife Ann and their children of Norfolk, VA, and Malissa Potter and husband Christopher and their children of Wilmington, NC; step-children, Rodney Roberts and wife Christine of Alpharetta, GA, Alice Lewis and husband Mike and their children of Asheville, NC, and Jayne Lombardo and her children of Asheville, NC.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home. Dr. Chip Sloan will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Capernium Cemetery with full military rites. The family will receive friends from 10:30 – 11:00am prior to the service at the funeral home.
