Personal History:   A native of Cleveland County, he worked for J. J. Digh & Machine Shop in

Dallas, NC where he was a machinist.  He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, the

Bethware Progressive Club and served in the U. S. Army.  In his younger years, he was an avid

baseball player.  He also loved fishing with his grandchildren, farming, tending  his garden and

was also a beekeeper.
