Kings Mountain Middle School Students Raise Money For Hospice

Karen Burton’s 7th grade class (Wave Rider Team) at Kings Mountain Middle School recently raised $1,000 for Wendover – The Kathleen Dover Hamrick Hospice House in Shelby. “Several members of the class had family and friends who had been touched by Hospice including my father who was at Wendover and we wanted to do something to help,” said Burton. The class sold 2,000 suckers at 50¢ each for one month to raise the money. Other teachers that helped the class are Cynthia Cook, Camille Sain, and Margaret Spangler. Kim Callahan, Director of Nursing Services at Wendover was presented the $1,000 check at a reception in the School Library. “We are delighted to receive this gift,” said Callahan. “This will enable us to better provide excellent care for patients and their families.” Hospice Cleveland County exists to provide high quality skilled compassionate care and support for patients with life-limiting illness, their families, and the community, regardless of ability to pay.
