Mattie Mae Martin
 Mattie Mae Martin, 92, of Hwy 226, Polkville, passed away Saturday,
September 24, 2011 at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby.

She was born in Cleveland County on August 4, 1919, to the late Robert
Everett Newton and Elva Wall Newton.  Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and member
of Oak Grove United Methodist Church.  

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Tom C.
Martin; brother,Velestus Newton; sister, Affie Hudson; and
great-grandson-in-law, Casey Greene.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her two daughters Mima Martin Hunt and husband
J.W. of Polkville and Nina Martin Moore and husband Alan of Mooresboro; four
brothers, Lemmie Newton of Ellenboro, Alvin Newton of Bostic, W.B. "Bill"
Newton of Polkville, and R.E. Newton of Forest City; two grandchildren,
Christy Hunt and Kim Hunt, four great-grandchildren, Tina Stinchcomb, Lisa
Greene, Amanda Hunt, and Miranda Hunt and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation, 6:30 PM  to 8:00 PM, Monday, Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston.
