Philip Wortman
 Philip Wortman, 49, of 3107 Sandie Drive in Shelby, passed away Sunday,
December 18, 2011 at home.

Born in Cleveland County on December 22, 1961, he was a son of Edith Hudson
Wortman of Fallston and the late Paul James Wortman. He was a pawn broker
for Shelby Pawn and Coin and was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church where
he had served as a deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and sang in the choir.
Philip also served in the US Army  for eight years.

In addition to his father Philip was preceded in death by an infant
daguhter, Jennifer Danielle Wortman.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years Sammi Grigg Wortman; two sons, Joshua
Wortman and financee Leistey Tindall of Union Mills and Jacob Wortman of
Shelby; God daughter, Jozie Church of Mooresville; brother, James Wortman
and wife Dianne of Fallston; sister, Kathy Wortman Beaver and husband Keith
of Shelby; step-grandmother, Zanie Hudson of Casar; father-in-law, Owen
Grigg of Lawndale; brother-in-law, Jon Grigg and wife Angie of Lawndale;
sister-in-law, Beth McCoy and husband Billy of Cherryville; nieces, Karen
Milling, Kristy Beaver, Kaley McCoy, Lindsey McCoy, and Elise Grigg; and
nephews, Jason Wortman, Kyle Beaver, Justin Grigg, and Fred Pritchard

The family will recieve friends Wednesday, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Stamey
Funeral Home, Fallston.  Condolences may be made online at

The funeral will be held at Beaver Dam Baptist Church on Thursday at 2:00
PM.
