Richard Griffith “Wipeout” Starnes
 Richard Griffith “Wipeout” Starnes age 81 went home to be with the Lord on Monday March 19, 2012 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. Born October 2, 1930 in Pennsylvania to the late 

Ambrose Daniel Starnes and Mary Elizabeth Starnes, he was a retired truck driver, veteran of the U.S Army and U.S. Marine Corp having served in the Korean War where he was held as a P.O.W. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Etrreyure “Tiny” Crain Starnes.

Left to cherish his memory are two sons Rich & John Starnes, two stepsons Albert & Titus Stewart, two daughters Chiara-Lee Williams and Denise Johnson; eighteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Two brothers Arthur & Charles Starnes and two sisters Jean Oberlander and Blanche Howard.

A memorial service will be held 2 PM Saturday March 24, 2012 at Fork Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Cogdell officiating. The family will receive friend from 1 – 2 PM Saturday at Fork Creek Baptist Church. The family will be having a reception for family and friends at the home of John Starnes 320 Dixon Road Ellenboro, NC 28040 following the memorial service.
