Robert Lewis Keirstead, 71, of Cherryville died Monday, February 21, 2011, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby. A native of Somerset County Maine, he was preceded in death by his parents Ralph Byron and Hazel Carvel Keirstead. Mr. Keirstead was an engineer, former president of SME and a past member of Rotary in Gaston County. He enjoyed motorcycles, guns, making knives, watching the speed channel, photography and blacksmithing.
He is survived by his wife Olivia Harrington Keirstead; a son, Bob Keirstead wife Elissa of Gastonia; a daughter, Kristi Leigh Starnes husband Johnny of York SC; two stepsons, Nicholas Riddle wife Jennifer of San Francisco and Benjamin Riddle of Cherryville; two aunts, Mildred Wright of Oregon and Mary McGibney of Florida; three cousins, Joyce Kochis of Maine, Carol Wilson of Texas and Carolyn Sue Schindale of Oregon.
The funeral service will be private.
