Wayne R. Rash

Wayne R. Rash, age 95, of Forest City, and a resident of Henderson Care, died Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Hospice House.

     Wayne was born on August 11, 1915 in Ashe County, TN to the late Henry Rash and Mary Norris Rash.   He was a graduate of Cool Springs High School. He worked in textiles and also for General Fireproofing before his retirement.  He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army. He was a member of Alexander United Methodist Church, also a former Magistrate for the Rutherford County Jail and a member of Woodmen of the World.  He enjoyed fishing, travelling with Toney Tours, shopping, watching T.V. and an avid Atlanta Braves fan. 

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Elizabeth Holland Rash; one son, William “Bill” Gregory Rash; three sisters, Nora Reel, Zora Rash, Lela Waters and four brothers, Roy Rash, Joe Rash, George Rash and Ed Rash.

     Survivors include three sister in-laws, Ruth Pye of Alexander Mills, Ella Mae Holland of Ellenboro and Sarah Holland of Oak Grove; special friends, John and Juanita Hollifield of Alexander Mills and a number of nieces and nephews.

     Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2010 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend J.J. Powell officiating.  Interment services will follow at Alexander Mills City Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
