William "Bill" Clarence Whiten, Sr., 74, 119 Seven Springs Road, Blacksburg, SC, died December 6, 2011, at home. Born in Cherokee County, he was a son of the late Robert Douglas and Mary Ellen Spencer Whiten.
He is survived by one son, William C. Whiten, Jr., Middle River, MD; one daughter, Barbara Huskey, Elk City, OK; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Shirley W. Blackwell, Blacksburg, SC, and Frances W. Camp, Grover, NC. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Paul Douglas Whiten; one daughter, Mary Ellen Patterson; two brothers, Gordon Whiten and James Whiten; and one sister, Helen Whiten Stokes.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, December 9, 2011, 2:30 PM, at Canaan United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Chaplain Cindy Adair Inman officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service. At other times, they will be at their respective homes.
