More Info: Chicken plates start at 4:30/$12 or donation. Parade starts at 6:00 pm. Tree lighting and Santa promptly 7:00 pm after parade.

Friday, December 5
What: Christmas Concert
When: 7:00 pm, December 5.
Where: Ambassador Baptist College, 101 Stockton St., Lattimore, NC.
More Info: The music department of Ambassador Baptist College will be presenting its annual Christmas concert, "The Greatest Gift". The concert will feature a variety of instrumental and vocal Christmas music played and sung by students and music faculty members. The public is invited and admission is free.

Saturday, December 6
What: Town of Waco Christmas Parade
When: 5:30 pm, December 6.
Where: Main Street, Waco, NC.
More Info: The parade starts at the Waco Community Volunteer Fire Dept. on S. Main St., travels up Main St., crosses Cherryville Rd., ends at Jess Hord Rd. The Town restarted our parade last year after a 30 year hiatus. We were very pleased with the outpouring of community support last year and excited to host the parade again this season. Please join us and help ring in the holidays.

What: Earl Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting
When: 3:00 pm, tree lighting 5:15 pm, December 7.
Where: Earl Park, 564 Crow Rd., Shelby, NC.

More Info: Christmas winter wonderland trunk and treats! Special guest Mrs. Nelly Claus! Food, gifts, and games. A lot of treats and toys for all kids.

What: Book Sale Fundraiser
When: 11:00 am until 5:00 pm, December 10.
Where: Eugenia H. Young Library, 104 Howie Dr., Shelby, NC.
More Info: The Friends of the Cleveland County Library will sponsor a book sale. Used and new books will be available at low prices and all proceeds will benefit the library.


Saturday, December 13
What: Blessing of the Animals & Tree Lighting
When: 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm, December 13.
Where: Baker Buffalo Creek Vineyard & Winery, 3521 Fallston Waco Rd., Lawndale, NC.
More Info: Pet 'n Sip,1-4 pm, meet adoptable CARE dogs. Blessing of the Animals, 4 pm with Reverend Anita Ware. Tree Lighting, immediately following the blessing.
Bring your pets and your love, this is a celebration of every soul we've rescued, every life we've lost, and every heart still waiting for a home. Honor an animal with a light on our tree. Red, for those who've found their forever homes. White, for those who've passed away. Blue, for those still waiting. Lights are $10 per animal. Monthly Meeting at American Legion, Post 82: 2nd Monday of every month. Meal at 6:00 pm, Meeting at 6:30 pm. Warren F. Hoyle, American Legion, Post 82, 1628 South Lafayette St., Shelby, NC. We invite all Veterans to attend our monthly meetings. If you are a son or grandson of a veteran, you can join the Sons of the American Legion. Members of the Legion family can join the Legion Riders. To join the American Legion, the veteran holds an honorable discharge or is an active duty veteran. Spouses, daughters, granddaughters of a veteran can join the Auxiliary.
Disable American Veterans, Hosting a Veterans, Chat & Chew Session: 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, 1138 E. Marion St., Shelby, NC. The second Saturday of each month. This is an informal gathering for Veterans to chat and learn from one another about what is available in the VA System. For more info, contact

Nar-Anon Support Group: Meets 6:30 pm weekly on Tuesdays at the First Baptist Church, 120 N. Lafayette St., Shelby, NC. Nar-Anon is a support group for those affected by someone else's drug addiction. We meet in the classroom off Dale St. between Sumter & Campbell St. Park on the side of the church or in the alley. Al-Anon Support Groups: Al-Anon Family Support Groups support those who are affected by someone else's drinking and drug use.
