2010 Shelby Christmas Parade
The Holiday season is upon us and that can only mean that the Shelby Christmas Parade is coming. Registration is now open for the December 19th, 2010 parade that graces the streets with its rich history through uptown Shelby. The parade will begin at 3 pm and will be held rain or shine.
Get your company, civic organization, non-profit, family or your pets involved in the Shelby Christmas Parade and show your holiday spirit and have a lot of fun.
In recognition of Shelby being chosen to display the Smithsonian Exhibit “New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music” at the Don Gibson Theatre we are choosing to make the theme of the 2010 Christmas parade about Roots Music. So, think of a musical way to celebrate Christmas with your parade entry. Maybe there’s a member of your group who plays the fiddle or banjo. Church groups could do a gospel or bluegrass song with a Christmas lyric. If you have a float, you could work music into the decorations or costumes. For more information on the exhibit www.mydestinationcc.org.
We hope that this adds extra fun and enjoyment to one of the best days of the year in Uptown Shelby, and that your company, civic group, church, or school organization will want to be part of the excitement. We will be rewarding a cash prize to the most creative musical entry to be donated to your favorite non-profit.
For more parade information please contact Uptown Shelby Association at 704-484- 3100, www.uptownshelby.org or email agragg@uptownshelby.org. Parade entries can be mailed or dropped off at 211 South Trade St. Shelby, NC 28150. Deadline for parade registration is December 10th.
