2012 PRIDE Student Drug Use Survey Results
The Alliance for Health of Cleveland County and the Cleveland County Health Department would like to invite the community to attend the public release of the 2012 PRIDE Student Drug Use Survey results.
The Pride Survey was developed in 1982 to help local schools measure student alcohol, tobacco and other drug use. Pride Surveys now measure behavior on many crucial issues that can affect learning: family, discipline, safety, activities, gangs, and more. The Pride Survey is an anonymous substance abuse survey we have been conducting in Cleveland County Schools in grades 6, 9, and 12 every three years since 1996. Results of the survey assist program planners, school administration, health educators, policy makers, and many others to develop data-driven prevention programming to best serve our students.
The results of the 2012 Pride Survey will be released publicly at the Alliance for Health Partners meeting on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 8:30 am at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in the T.R. Harris Conference Room. All community members and stakeholders concerned for the health and wellbeing of our county’s young people are encouraged to attend—parents, grandparents and caregivers; school administration and staff; healthcare workers; faith-based community; law enforcement; prevention and treatment professionals; and policy makers.
Substance abuse is an issue that has an impact far beyond the individual users and family members. It affects the entire community from the impact it has on health and healthcare systems, to crime and the criminal justice system, to its impact on productivity, unemployment and even the environment. Alleviation of substance abuse takes a collaborative community effort. Please join us to learn more about the current drug trends among our young people in Cleveland County and participate in discussion on how to address this issue locally.
