Alma Jean Wilson

Mrs. Alma Jean Wilson, 87, of 105 Foxhill Drive in Kingstown, NC departed this life on Friday, January 30, 2015 at her residence. She was born to the late Arthur and Mary Bonner Whittenburg in Cherokee County, SC on August 31, 1927.

Alma was a retired employee of R.T. Industries. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witnesses where she was very active in the ministry.

Although she was employed outside of the home, Alma was a homebody and homemaker at heart. She enjoyed gardening, canning and quilting. She also enjoyed taking care of children especially some of her great-nieces whom she helped to rear.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Starling Wilson, Jr.; her aunt who reared her, Huldia Bonner Dawkins; a son, Thurman McArthur Wilson; a sister, Madelia Littlejohn; a brother, Miles Whittenburg and her cousins who were reared like her brothers, Thomas Jeter, James Jeter and Robert Jeter.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Margaret Wilson of the home; two sisters, Alice Caldwell of Shelby and Fannie Mulford of Norwalk, CT; one brother, Paul Lockhart of Gastonia, NC; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Wilson of Boiling Springs, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Shelby with Mr. Robert Blakely Jr. officiating. Burial will take place at Cleveland Memorial Park in Boiling Springs, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday evening at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel and at other times at the home. Condolences can be expressed online at www.enloes.net. Enloe Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
