Alma Sue Fowler Childers

Alma Sue Fowler Childers, 88, of 680 South Charleston Street, passed away Thursday, November 5th, 2020, at her home.

Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of Basil Childers and the daughter of the late Charlie Fowler and Mattie Mae Painter Fowler. Mrs. Childers retired from teaching and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church where she was the organist for 60 years.

Mrs. Childers is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Childers and Becky Varner, both of Blacksburg; one son, Barry Childers of Blacksburg; five grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 8th, 2020, from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Hopewell Baptist Church, 511 Old Chester Road, Blacksburg, SC 29702. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Eddie Bolin and Mrs. Sandra Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. Bryan Childers, Shane Childers, Robby Revels, Clayton Childers, Chucky Brown, Bryce Childers, Jackson Childers and Elijah Childers will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church Building Fund, 511 Old Chester Road, Blacksburg, SC 29702..

The family will be at the residence of Shane Childers, 1460 North Mountain Street, Blacksburg, SC..
