Mrs. Altonia Mae Beam Skinner, age 99, of 111 Harrilson Road, died Friday, December 28, 2012 at her home. She was born January 4, 1913, the daughter of the late John Pinkney Beam, Sr. and Minnie Ellis Beam.
Mrs. Skinner taught in Cherryville City Schools (know by her students as Miss Altonia Beam) and Woodruff, S. C. Schools. She was a teacher and Liberian . In addition her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Skinner, four brothers, M. D. Beam, Webb Beam, Ishmael Beam, and Kyle Beam, one sister Leitha B. Lewis, a step son Bobby Skinner.
Survivors: Step Son: Charles Skinner of Greenville, S. C. and one brother: J. P. Beam, II, of Cherryville. A number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, with Rev. Wayne Key officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM, prior to the service at the church.
