Amelia “Ma” Shytles
Amelia “Ma” Shytles, age 76, of Forest City, NC, died Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
 
    Born September 21, 1937 in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Putman and Inez Campfield Putman. Amelia was a graduate of Tri-High School, class of 1955 and worked as an underwriter for Insurance Marketing Services for 31 years and also for the Department of Social Services for several years.  She was a faithful member of Florence Baptist Church and enjoyed going to the lake and cooking for her family and loved them all dearly.
 
     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Franklin C. “Chunk” Shytles.
 
     Survivors include three sons, Franklin “Curt” Shytles and wife, Connie of Ellenboro, Kent Shytles and Kyle Shytles both of Forest City; brother, B.L. Putman and wife, Peggy of Norfolk, Virginia.  She is also survived by three grandchildren, Charlie Bumgarner and wife, Kyra, Amber Whitaker and husband, Michael and Summer Shytles; three great- grandchildren, Blakeley Whitaker, Paxton Mogler and Caitlin Fields.
 
     Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Dr. Rev. Bobby Gantt officiating.  Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the graveside service at the cemetery.
