| Andrea McKee Ray, 48, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013, at her residence. She was born in Gaston County on July 21, 1964, a daughter of the late Dr. Raymond Andrew McKee and Glenda Thomas McKee.
She graduated from Cherryville High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Journalism. While in Journalism School she was a member of Kappa Tau Alpha, a national journalism honorary society that selects students academically ranked in the top 10 percent of the School of Journalism. Andrea was retired from Duke Power where she worked in public relations.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother Thomas Lee McKee.
Survivors include a daughter, Taylor Beam and a son, Andrew Beam, both of Concord, N.C.
A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, June 14, 2013 at First United Methodist Church, Cherryville with Rev. Rick Fite officiating. Burial will be in the family plot of Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday at the church from 2:00-2:45 PM, prior to the service.
