Ann Owensby of Rutherfordton passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
A native of Rutherford County, she was a graduate of R-S Central High School, class of 1969 and a member of Gray’s Creek Baptist Church. Ann worked as a dispatcher for the Forest City Police Department for many years and was an avid golfer. She also enjoyed travelling, flower gardening and will always be known for her ability to lighten the moment with her wonderful sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Owensby.
Survivors include her daughter, Beth Walker; mother, Mary Lou Dobbins Owensby; four brothers, which includes twin brothers, William and Wayne, Thurman and wife, Sheila, Robert and wife, Ginny; two sisters, Mary Elliott and Betty Byers and husband, Donnie; several nephews of which is a special nephew, Chris Byers. She is also survived by her best friend and protector, her dog, Greta.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2014 with Reverend Alvin Allen officiating. The family will gather to receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
