But the suffering's just begun for a South Carolina soldier's bride who birthed a child and buried it on the farm while her husband was in a Union prison. Placidia Hockaday may hang for the crime. Or, she could save herself, but only if she's willing to destroy the person she loves most. Based on a true event.

Where: Hopewell-Hollis Ruritan Club, 2500 Hollis Road, Ellenboro, NC.
More Info: Cost $10.00 per person, 7 & younger eat free.
Plates consist of: Hot dogs, delicious baked beans, cake and drink. All proceeds go to help those in the community.

More Info: The American Revolution and Southern Campaigns with Mike Baxter. Mike works with the Southern Campaigns of the American Revolution as an archaeologist and a tour guide of the Kings Mountain Military Park. He will be bringing samples from the archaeology of that period. Everyone is welcome to attend.

More Info: There will be a large variety of plants. Vegetables, herbs, Aloe Vera, Snake Plants and more. Flowers such as Marigolds, Cosmos, Sunflowers, Dragon's Breath, Celosia and others. Prices start at $2 and up. All proceeds benefit Clifford's Army Rescue, an all volunteer, 501c3 non profit animal rescue.

Foothills Quilt Guild: Foothills Quilters Guild invites you to join us each month on the third Thursday at the Ascension Lutheran Church, 300 N. Lafayette St., Shelby. We welcome new members young and old to learn and share in the talents and knowledge of the art of Quilting. Our doors are open at 10am for open sew day. Bring your machine and any project to work on or join in on the mystery Block of the Month or other fun activities throughout the day. Our meeting begins at 7pm with Demonstrations and Programs from area speakers followed by show and tell, door prizes and other meeting content. Call 803-370-0357 for more information.


Nar-Anon Support Group: Meets 6:30 pm weekly on Tuesdays at the First Baptist Church, 120 N. Lafayette St., Shelby, NC. Nar-Anon is a support group for those affected by someone else's drug addiction. We meet in the classroom off Dale St. between Sumter & Campbell St. Park on the side of the church or in the alley.
