Area Church Briefs Oct. 7th edition
 Faith Harvest Church

The music department of the church will sponsor a choir workshop and concert October 7, 8, & 9. The workshop begins at 6:00 pm each night. All singers are welcome to participate. New Bethel Baptist Church, Lawndale


Come join us at New Bethel Baptist Church, Lawndale for our monthly breakfast buffet on Saturday, October 9, from 7 am to 10 am. We are located at 112 New Bethel Church Rd; right below Burns High. For only $5.00 a plate, you can enjoy bacon, eggs, grits, sausage, gravy, coffee, juice and we always have plenty of extras!!! All proceeds will benefit our various projects!!!


 


Britt’s Annual Bike Show Fundraiser


Everyone is welcome to attend Britt’s Annual Bike Show on October 9th beginning at 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. All bikes must ride in. This event is sponsored by Driven By Grace Biker MInistry. Auction will be at 12:00 noon and Bike Judging at 1:00 pm. All proceeds go to Crisis Pregnancy Center of Lincoln County. There will be free food, door prizes, auction, live band, and T-shirts Available. A $15.00 Entry Fee. Located at the Lincolnton Church of God, 150 By-Pass West (1435 Riverview Rd.), Lincolnton, NC. 


 


Big Springs Baptist Church, Hollis, NC


The church will hold a “Then and Now Days Fish Fry” on Saturday, October 9th and the proceeds are for the Brotherhood Benevolence Fund. There will be Antique Cars, Farm Equipment, Household Antiques, and Music. Come Join the Fun! Festivities begin at 1:00 pm and the Fish Fry is from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. The cost is $10.00 for adults, and ages 6-12 cost $5.00 and children under 6 eat free. We will also have to go plates.


 


Sulphur Springs United Methodist, Shelby


Our 35th Annual Old Timey Pig Pickin’ will be held Saturday, October 9th beginning at 12:00 Noon until it’s gone. We wil also have a Craft Sale. Dine-in all you can eat and take-outs will also be available. The cost for adults: $9.00, children 6-12 $5.00 and under 6 are free. We will have BBQ, Chicken, Hushpuppies, Slaw, French Fries and Tea and don’t miss the famous home-made desserts!


 


Central United Methodist Church 


“The Nudge Revolution”


Central UMC on the courtsquare in uptown Shelby invites the community to “The Nudge Revolution” workshop presented by Dr. Leonard Sweet on Saturday, October 9, from 3-5 pm. Dr. Sweet is currently serving as Professor of Evangelism at Drew University and previously served as President and Professor of Church History at United Theological Seminary for eleven years. Dr. Sweet will also speak on Sunday, October 10 at 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. A “Mini Revival” will be held Sunday evening at 6 p.m. Child care is provided, but pre-registration is needed by calling the church office at 704-487-6336 Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This event is sponsored by a Preaching/Teaching Legasy Grant provided by Tommy and Marian Rogers.


 


Ellis Chapel Baptist Church


Ellis Chapel Baptist Church, Patterson Springs, NC will observe their annual Women’s Day Program on Sunday, October 10th during the 11:00 am service. The guest speaker is Linda Lockhart, 1st Lady of Ellis Chapel Baptist Church.


 


Bess Chapel United Methodist Church


Second Sunday Lunch at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church, 6073 Flay Road, Cherryville on Sunday, October 10th from 12:00 noon until 1:30. Menu items are Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw. Price is donations only with all proceeds to the building fund.


 


Lily Memorial Baptist Church


Our church is having our Homecoming Celebration Sunday, Oct. 10th. Sunday School begins at 9:15 am and Morning Worship at 10:30 am. Special music will be provided by “His Glory”. There will be a meal in the fellowship hall following the worship service. All members, former members and guest are welcome.


 


Chestnut Ridge Baptist, Kings Mtn.


“Oh How I Love Jesus” weekend Bible Conference will be held October 15th, 16th, & 17th at our church. On Friday we will serve a meal at 5:30 pm for a donation of $5 and at 7pm, special music & guest speaker. Music by Joe Covino with Rugged Cross Riders; Saturday will begin at 9 am and at 6:00 pm The Anchormen Quartet will provide special singing; and Sunday the services will begin at 11am with special music & guest speaker (at the 11am and 6pm services). Double Springs Baptist Church


A car seat safety check will be held Oct. 20 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Double Springs Baptist Church. Anyone transporting children are invited to bring your car with the car seat or booster seat and have it checked by experts to make sure it is safely installed. This is open to the public and is free of charge. This event is sponsored by the Health Ministry of Double Springs with the cooperation of Cleveland Regional Medical Center. The church is located at 1130 Double Springs Church Rd., off Washburn Switch Road.


Flu shots will be given Oct. 21 at Double Springs Baptist Church family life center from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The cost is $29.95 unless a person has Medicare Part B. The public is invited to participate in this ministry of the Double Springs Health Care Team. The church is located at 1130 Double Springs Church Rd.


Disaster Preparedness: Double Springs Baptist Church will host a program on disaster preparedness for churches Sunday, Oct. 24 from 6 to 7 p.m. Sherry Yocum, Cleveland County Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, will be the speaker in the church family life center. The public is invited to participate in this ministry of the Double Springs Health Care Team. The church is located at 1130 Double Springs Church Rd.

Our Annual Barbeque will be held Saturday, October 23rd at the church from 12:00 noon until... Beulah United Methodist Church BBQ


We will have our Pork Barbeque - Building Fund Fundraiser on Saturday, October 23rd, serving from 12 noon - 6:30 pm at the church. You can eat in or take out. The church is located at 1534 Stony Pt. Rd., Shelby. The cost is $8.00 for Adults and $4.00 for children under 12. The plates include: BBQ Pork, Bun, Slaw, Baked Beans, Chips, Drink and Dessert. Boston Butts will be for sale at $30.00. Boiling Springs Baptist Fall Festival


Boiling Springs Baptist Church, 307 S. Main Street Boiling Springs, will have their annual Fall Festival on Sunday October 31.  Inflatables and climbing wall will begin at 5:30pm followed by Trunk Or Treat at 7pm. The public is invited!
