The social action team of the United Methodist Women at Aldersgate UMC invites you to join them Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 7:00pm to learn about the difficult and complex topic of human trafficking. The Executive Director of On Eagle's Wings Ministries, Emily Fitchpatrick, based in Charlotte NC, will be speaking along with Rev. Mark Andrews of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Hickory, NC and Captain Joel Shores of the Cleveland County Sheriff's Department. Emily serves on the NC Human Trafficking Commission and has been recognized in Washington D.C. for her work with women and teens. She is the founder of Hope House in Gastonia, NC, dedicated to the rehabilitation of girls and women who have been trafficked. Rev. Andrews cycled from the coast of North Carolina to the coast of Oregon last summer and raised $17,000.00 to fight human trafficking in the process. He will share his journey in words and pictures and tell us how he came to be a part of the fight against this scourge. Cleveland County's Sheriff's department will fill us in on the local picture and what each of us should be aware of regarding this growing worldwide problem.
