Broad River Community Church
Did you know our county is classified as Title One? That means all students automatically get free lunch. That means more students probably go without at home than have enough. With that in mind, I've contacted six of the twenty-seven Cleveland County schools. There is great need for many things, but this cold time of year, my primary thought is, "gee its cold!" And, "yay! Christmas!" Those two phrases completely sum up the main needs of many Cleveland County students, warm clothing and a gift for Christmas.
Broad River Community Church in Boiling Springs is leading a coat drive and Giving Tree program we're calling Share the Warmth. The goal is to provide for those students who are homeless due to fire or finances, or doing without for whatever reason. We've contacted the social workers of six County schools to find out who needs warm things or a gift for under the tree.
We can't do this by ourselves. We are asking our community to join with us to meet these needs. We are collecting coats in all sizes, hats and gloves, and blankets, either new or gently used. We also need volunteers to sponsor a giving tree child. To purchase some clothing basics, a coat and a gift. If shopping is just too much at this busy time of year, monetary donations will also be accepted to help us meet needs. We have 18 more children to find sponsors for and still need many more coats.
For questions or if you want to sponsor a child from our city, call Julie Lail at 434-294-2540 or email her at woolyboogerfarm@gmail.com
If you would like to donate to the cause please mail any donations, with "share the warmth" in the memo line to: Broad River Community Church, PO Box 405, Boiling Springs, NC 28017
To drop of coats, blankets or hats, you will find a collection box at the following locations:
