Big Springs Baptist Church Brotherhood is having it’s annual Then and Now Days on Saturday, October 8. Festivities will begin at 3 pm with a Fish Fry from 4 to 7 pm in the church fellowship hall. Activities for the afternoon include displays of antique cars, farm equipment, and household antiques. Handmade crafts will also be on sale. Tickets for the fish fry are $10 for adults and $5 for children between the ages of 6 and 12. There will be a drawing for a handcrafted gazebo at 7 pm. Resurrection Lutheran Church, 600 Crescent Circle will hold a big Octoberfest on October 15 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. for the benefit of Kings Mountain Rescue Squad and the church pre-school program. Admission is $5 and includes lunch and all activities for children, including inflatables, cookie decorating, pumpkin decorating, face painting, balloon animals and a hayride. The lunch menu will include choice of a German plate (sausage/bun, sauerkraut, German potato salad, drink and dessert); hamburger and/or hot dog plates which also include chips, drinks and dessert.
