Arthur Vernon "A.V." Anthony, age 92, died Monday, September 12, 2016 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center-Shelby. A.V. was born in Cleveland County to the late Carl William and Annie Maude Davis Anthony. A.V. served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. A.V. loved to garden and visit with shut-ins. A.V. was owner and operator of Anthony Plumbing for 40 years. A.V.is proceeded in death by his wife of 49 years, Ruth Casey Anthony and a sister Farrell Rey Smith.

A.V. is survived by his nieces and nephews; Paul Smith and his wife Mary Lou of Shelby; David Smith and his wife Stephanie of Lillington; Barry Carroll and his wife, Betty Ann of Buffalo, SC; Dianne Greene and her husband Tim of Shelby; Brenda Wyte and her husband William of Blacksburg, SC and Carla Gentry and her husband Carl of Shelby; a sister-in-law, Louise Casey Carroll of Blacksburg, SC; numerous great nieces and nephews; and a friend and housekeeper, Tina Snydor

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 2:30pm at Hoyle Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Teresa Ramsey Blanton and Rev. David Duncan officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:30pm prior to service in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park with Military Rites.
