Artie Sluder Hollar
Mrs. Artie Sluder Hollar, 105, of 276 Old Blowing Rock Road, Boone, NC passed away Sunday, December 19, 2010. Services were held at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel, Boone, NC. Entombment followed at Woodlawn Mausoleum in Blowing Rock, NC.
Mrs. Hollar was born in Avery County. She was a homemaker and a retired cook for Smithy’s Department Store and Restaurant. She was a member of Middle Fork Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hollar was preceded in death by her 1st husband, McLonal Aldridge; her 2nd husband, Don Honeycutt; her 3rd husband, Wilson Hollar; her parents, Andy and Judy Johnson Sluder; 1 daughter, Gerrydine “Gerri” Honeycutt Ledford; 1 sister; and 4 brothers.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Dare Aldridge Triplett of Boone, Judy Aldridge Dale of Asheville and Peggy Honeycutt Mains of Zionville; 1 son, Jay Aldridge and wife Suma of Boone; 2 half-sisters, Della Taylor and Bertie Townsend and husband Adam, all of Boone; 6 granddaughters, Gail Storie and husband Nelson of Blowing Rock, Rita Priddy and husband Kent of Mooresville, Kathy Cottrell and husband David of Boone, Kimberly Euresti and husband Roland of Brownsville, Texas, Robin Wilson and husband Robert of Brecksville, Ohio and Tina Gray and husband Robert of Burlington; 7 grandsons, Bill Dale and wife Phyllis of Nashville, Tennessee, Ron Dale and wife Chris of Oxford, Mississippi, Mike Triplett of Boone, Chris Triplett and wife Debbie of Boone, Jeff Aldridge of Washington, D.C., Greg Ledford and Don Ledford and wife Jennifer, all of Shelby; 14 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
