What: Neighborhood Block Party
When: 11:00 am until 3:00 pm, August 22.
Where: Waco Community Center, 200 A W Black St., Waco, NC.
More Info: The event will include games, public safety displays, Crime Watch info, a water slide for the kids and Mr. Foamtastic will be blasting a foam party between Noon - 2:00 pm. There will be free food, drinks, popcorn and snow cones for everyone. Bring a chair and have lunch on us.

What: Cleveland Lincoln County Rose Society Meeting
When: 2:30 pm, August 23.
Where: Cleveland County Extension Office, 130 S. Post Rd., Shelby, NC.
More Info: Glenn Sellers will give our program on Soil Testing. This will be our last meeting before our Rose Show Sept. 26, 2026. We will be finalizing plans for our rose show. At this show, we will have a table setup for anyone growing roses to enter, even if you do not know the name of your rose. Mark your calendar. Entries will be accepted Sept. 26, 2026, 7:00-9:00, so plan to bring your cut roses in water. Everyone welcome and refreshments will be served.

Astronomy Club Meeting: The Cleveland County Astronomical Society will have it's monthly meeting at the Williams Observatory on the campus of Gardner-Webb University at 7:00 pm August 20th, 2026. Open to the public, If you have an interest in astronomy and want to learn more come by and check it out.

Foothills Quilters Guild: Foothills Quilters Guild invites you to join us each month on the third Thursday, August 20th, at the Ascension Lutheran Church, 300 N. Lafayette St., Shelby, NC. We welcome new members young and old to learn and share in the talents and knowledge of the art of quilting. Our doors are open at 10 am for open sew day. Bring your machine and any project to work on or join in on the mystery Block of the Month or other fun activities throughout the day. Our meeting begins at 7pm with demonstrations and programs from area speakers followed by show and tell, door prizes and other meeting content. Call 803-370-0357 for more information.


Nar-Anon Support Group: Meets 6:30 pm weekly on Tuesdays at the First Baptist Church, 120 N. Lafayette St., Shelby, NC. Nar-Anon is a support group for those affected by someone else's drug addiction. We meet in the classroom off Dale St. between Sumter & Campbell St. Park on the side of the church or in the alley. Al-Anon Support Groups: Al-Anon Family Support Groups support those who are affected by someone else's drinking and drug use.
