Gaffney, SC -- Barbara Painter Owens, 82, of 1466 Goucher School Road, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at her residence.
Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of the late Eugene Earnest Owens, daughter of the late Clyde Painter and Mamie Blackwell Painter, and was reared in the home of John Earl & Mildred Blackwell. She retired from textiles, loved cooking, canning and baking, and was a member of St. Johns Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Billy Eugene Owens and wife, Sarah of Kings Mountain, NC; a daughter, Lorene Byars and husband, Keith of Gaffney; four grandchildren, Leslie Dills, Matt Owens and wife, Amanda, Emily Hargrove and husband, Cameron and Lori McHugh and husband, Michael; nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Thomas Owens, a brother, Charles Painter, three sisters, Pauline Pierce, Lynn Gibson and Sarah Bodford, and a grandson, Shannon Owens.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Goucher Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Ramsey officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside.
