Barbara Spake Holland, age 86, died January 29, 2019 at Testa Hospice House. Born in Cleveland County on August 12, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Irvin Monroe Spake and Mabel Whisnant Spake. Barbara was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church where she taught children's Sunday School for over 30 years. She loved crafting, playing bridge, and serving her church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dave Holland.

Barbara is survived by her three children; Connie Allen and husband Darrell, Rick Holland, and Donna Sparks and husband David all of Shelby, one brother, Robert Spake and wife Argent of Manteo, five grandchildren, Derek Allen and wife Laura, Sarah Hayes and husband Michael, Michelle Sparks, Matthew Sparks and Michael Sparks, as well as two great-grandchildren, Houston Hayes and Austin Allen.

Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 1, 2019 in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Dr. Rit Varriale officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Elizabeth Baptist Church Cemetery.
