Barkley Gordon Hord, 88, of 435 Sunbeam Farm Road, Cherryville, died Monday,
February 28, 2011 at Carolinas Medical Center - Lincoln in Lincolnton.
Born July 27, 1922 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Loran James
William Hord and Ellen Bryte Houser Hord. He was retired from Grace
Hospital. Mr. Hord was a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church in Morganton and
he served in the US Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Nathalee
Ramsey Hord; brother, Sloan Hord and sister, Louise Hord.
Mr. Hord is survived by four brothers, Carl David Hord, Ben Hord and Charles
Hord all of Cherryville and Bobby Joe Hord of Lincolnton; three sisters,
Willa Bryte Painter of Gastonia, Lu Ann Gamble of Cherryville and Brenda
Morrow of Shelby. Also, a special thanks to niece Jane Allred.
Visitation: 1:00 to 2:00PM Thursday Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston.
Funeral Services: 2:00PM Thursday at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel, Fallston.
