Beatrice Scruggs McKee, 94, died Sunday March 2, 2014 at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, Georgia.  Born in Cleveland County on January 23, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Weldon and Mae Wilson Scruggs.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Jackson McKee; sisters, Louise Blanton, Mildred Hollifield, Gertrude Falls; and brother, Clarence Scruggs.  Beatrice was retired from Shelby Mills and was a member of Second Baptist Church when she resided in Shelby.  She loved her family dearly and looked forward to the family gatherings where she would cook and enjoy the whole family being together.  At Christmas time she would make beautiful bows for everyone – a trade she learned from working at Blanton’s Flower Shop. 

Beadie is survived by her son, Harry McKee and wife Gretta of Boiling Springs, NC; daughter, Jacqueline Phillips and husband Mike of Grayson, GA; grandchildren, Tracy Dunlap, Todd Callahan and wife Brooke, Mike McKee, Beth Canipe and husband Michael, Todd Phillips, Shane Phillips, Tim Phillips; great grandchildren, Kacie McKee Martin and husband Jim, Ben Canipe, Patrick Canipe, Katie Dunlap, Steven Thomas Callahan, Brayden Causby; sister-in-law, Laura Scruggs.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday March 6, 2014 in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory at 2:00 pm . Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 1:00pm until 2:00pm. At other times the family will be at the home of Harry and Gretta McKee.
