Benjamin R. “Ben” Moore, age 83 passed away on Monday January 6, 2014 at the Presence-St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, Illinois. Ben was born February 8, 1930 in Shelby, He was the son of the late Buren R. and Dixie Mae (nee Grigg) Moore. ON April 7, 1950 he married Betty A. Whitesell. Betty preceded Ben in Death on September 16, 2012 after celebrating 62 years of marriage. Ben was a resident of the Carpentersville-Elgin are for over 53 years and was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church in Elgin. He was co-owner and operator of B & C Moore Excavating Company. In addition to his parents and his wife, Ben is preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, Maynard and Eddy Moore and a sister, Margaret.

He is survived by a son, Charles (Pamela) Moore; grandchildren, Seth (Jamie) Benjamin (Laura), Eli Moore, and Madeleine (Christian) Boutan, his great-grandchildren; Saley, Malone, Hadassah, Calvin, Steven, John-Pierre and Hazel; a brother, Tom (Karen) Moore; two sisters, Louise White and Susan (Dee) Jones; in-laws, Barbara Allen, Betty Moore, Irene Moore, and Herbert Robbs; and many dearly loved nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday July 20, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory. A private burial will be held on Monday, July 21, 2014.
