Benjamin Wayne Nanney

Benjamin Wayne Nanney, 74, Mooresboro, NC, died Saturday, July 30, 2016, at his residence.

Born in Cleveland County on July 21, 1942, he was the son of the late Shull Nanney and Georgia Ledford Nanney.

Wayne was a member of Fairview Missionary Methodist Church, Cliffside, NC. Wayne served in the United States Navy from 1961-1965. After serving in the US Navy, Wayne worked for Liberty Life Insurance Company for 25 years as an insurance salesman. Wayne was an avid porch sitter and enjoyed looking over the wonders of God's creation. While doing so, he also enjoyed the company of his two dogs, Oscar and Gabby.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Dorsey Nanney, Shull Nanney, Jr and Jerry Nanney and one sister, Connie Nanney Barber.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 50 Years, Roxann Murray Nanney: two sons, Eric Nanney and wife Sherri of Mooresboro, NC, and Steve Nanney and wife Stacie of Greenwood, Indiana: two brothers, Marvin Nanney and wife Rose and Hubert Nanney and wife Alice, both of Mooresboro, NC; one sister, Ann Nanney Tallent and husband Wayne, of Mooresboro, NC; The apples of his eyes granddaughters, Katie Nanney of Raleigh, NC, Kasie Nanney of Shelby, NC, and Kaleena Nanney of Greenwood, Indiana and grandson, Caleb Nanney of Greenwood, Indiana.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11 am Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Cleveland Memorial with the Rev. Owen Duncan and the Rev. Mack Tester officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, August 1, 2016 from 6pm-8pm at Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside and at other times at the home
