Bennie Bolin Childers, 62, of 858 Martin Goldmine Road, took her journey home on Tuesday, February 11th, 2014, at Carolinas Medical Center - Pineville after a battle with cancer.
Bennie's greatest love was her Lord and Savior, whom she served for over fifty years. She held numerous offices in several churches over this time, including being the secretary for Central Baptist Church in York and Nazareth Baptist Church in Blacksburg. Mrs. Childers was also a thirty year retiree from Bank of America.
Bennie loved history and was her family historian. She spent many hours researching her family history, and though she had no children of her own, she had a great love for children.
She leaves behind her beloved husband and friend Will T. (Tommy) Childers and numerous cousins whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben (W.B.) and Fathie Martin Bolin and her grandparents, Will and Carrie Bolin and Claude and Edna Pruitt Martin.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 15, 2014, from 6:00 - 7:30 PM at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 16, at 3:00 PM at Nazareth Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Billings, Rev. Carey Caldwell, and Rev. Shannon Faulkner officiating. Interment will follow at Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery. Jody Doster, Mike Martin, Michael Martin, Jerry Martin, John Glenn Martin, and Ashley Jenkins will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Nazareth Baptist Church, 1156 99 Island Road, Blacksburg, SC 29702, or to the charity of one's choice.
The family would like to thank Diane Jenkins for the love that she has shone for Bennie and Tommy during Bennie's illness. She was a wonderful caretaker and is loved like a sister.
The family will be at the residence.
