Mr. Bennie J Ward, 75, of Cherryville and formerly of Lawndale, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016 at his residence.
He is survived by his daughter, Kim Green and husband Roger of Cherryville, NC, a grandson, Matthew Green of the home, a sister, Jesslyn Chandler of Lawndale, NC, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Born October 9, 1940 in Cleveland County, Mr. Ward was the son of the late Jesse H Ward and Liza (Jeffers) Ward and was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (Deaton) Ward, two sisters, six brothers.
Mr. Ward was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing, John Wayne movies, country music, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
